No one likes to be disappointed after receiving a massage and so it’s completely up to you to delineate healthy boundaries prior to receiving a holistic service.
On Monday morning π I woke up in extreme pain…my jaw ached, my neck muscles ached, and my shoulders were stiff.
I was in so much pain I tried to force vomit to change the pressure in my skull π cavity and that actually did bring me some form of relief.
I decided to book myself a last minute massage πββοΈ and instead of my Therapist letting me relax all she wanted to do was pry about my life because I made the mistake of telling her I was a massage Therapist too.
She was incessant and I did tell her where the areas of pain were in my body and even though I mentioned it was sinus related she started me facedown in the massage cradle.
I should have spoken up and suggested we begin face up first but I deferred to her wishes instead hoping for the best.
After about 25 minutes of laying facedown I spoke up and stated it’s gotten to the point where laying face down is aggravating my sinus cavities and we need to finish face up so we can work on my TMJ issues.
She knew rudimentary moves but not advanced myofascial release and the massage was “decent enough ” but I still left the table in pain and felt a bit better.
What shocked me though is upon payment I was charged 165 for a 50 minute massage πββοΈ because gratuity was built into the experience and this most definitely wasn’t a medical grade massage.
I left absolutely disappointed because I spent my session chit chatting and answering questions about my massage practice with my masseuse and entertaining her instead of being allowed to fully relax.
I’m sharing these details with all of you because I don’t wish to ruin anyone’s #tantra massage ceremony when booking a session with me.
I want you to tell me how much pressure you need, where the areas of soreness reside, whether you love chit chat or complete silence and how often you need a bathroom break.
it’s your session and your time to decompress so let me know more about your goals and don’t feel bad about interrupting the flow of the session by taking breaks, asking for water and telling me you need a blanket.
The co creation of #sacredspace is about both of us feeling comfortable and accepted.Β
We both need to communicate our needs and honor one another’s boundaries.
