My personal experiences with Reiki


Unfortunately there is no predicted outcome for any reiki or healing services you pay for and receive. I cherish the few times I would leave the presence of a gifted reiki master and actually feel like I was giggly, full of hope and walking on clouds. It’s such a wonderful feeling to tap into your higher self after a reiki session that helped you tap into your inner joy.

However I’ve had horrible horrible nightmarish experiences with self proclaimed “healers” who didn’t respect me as an equal or even a human being with feelings and special gifts of my own. These two separate women were “holier than thou” types and both of them even mispronounced my true legal name because they obviously didn’t care about me. I left these sessions feeling worse about myself and very distressed.

My advice is this — if you feel like your reiki practitioner is triggered by you or they think too highly of themselves then don’t waste your time or money with them.

I’m not saying every session is joyous though. Your body is unique on how it chooses to process energy. You might store unprocessed grief or trauma that you are not aware of. Our body’s cells carry memories so after a reiki treatment you might remember something dark or unpleasant you chose to ignore or forget. There are many layers to peel away as you heal. Grief, loss and depression might be part of your reiki journey and so can intense joy and self awareness.

Reiki is not a cure all nor a substitution for a mental disorder if you feel you have one. If you regularly suffer from a declining mental health disorder go consult with a mental health professional in conjunction with receiving alternative healing services.

I’ve met clients who vape or take cannabis during or right before or after a tantra and reiki ceremony with me but those drugs are depressants and they alter the positive affects of receiving work in the chakras.

All drugs especially alcohol will affect the central nervous system and it’s advisable not to drink before or after receiving reiki or tantra. You should be drinking a lot of fresh spring, distilled or purified what.

Receiving reiki, sound healing and authentic tantra massage is an investment in yourself. You will definitely feel physically and emotionally lighter after your visit with me. You will look younger and it will feel like a day at the spa. If however you haven’t faced your fears or done your shadow work you might feel a bit sad depending on the trauma your body might be carrying that you’ve never fully addressed. Just be honest with yourself and honor your body. Every emotion you feel and every sensation pulsing through you is valid. You can’t rush healing nor can you continue to suppress your emotions indefinitely.

When clients make me Cringe

I am going to start off my paragraph here with deep gratitude for all the wonderful and sensitive clients I’ve met in my lifetime. The clients I met who were loyal to me and who looked forward to my visits whenever I traveled to their cities. If it weren’t for these special men and these lovely experiences 💕 I probably would not have lasted so long in my industry. Most of these thoughtful men were from the East coast or locals here in Chicago. I could count on their repeat visits and some in the past visited me weekly or even twice a week if it was within their budget and means to do so. Now however I see so much less loyalty with an oversaturation of women who have lost their jobs due to the challenging economy. Their heart isn’t in it but they need the money to support their families and they are charging less than market value out of desperation. Men see this as an opportunity to take full advantage of this new crisis and even the men who can afford a luxury budget or moderate budget are chasing after deals and desperation. I see much less loyalty as men chase after the newest provider visiting the city as a hobby and a form of excitement. It’s unfortunate though and I see that this defines how I see my near future.

Now let’s focus on my needs for security. Before I choose to work with anyone new I’d like to know my guest’s full legal name and occupation or if my client is retired I’d like to know their former career just for my safety and for verification purposes. My number one priority is safety and having a mutually enjoyable and relaxing experience without any drama. I’d like a deposit and if I don’t receive a deposit electronically a new guest can always take time out of their busy day or night 🌙 and meet me in person for a friendly coffee ☕ and offer me a cash deposit to hold an appointment date and time. I have no issues honoring a client’s needs for discretion however the full legal name is definitely the deal breaker. I have no desire to meet a random stranger i don’t know without a legal name and without knowing who this person looks like. This isn’t a James Bond movie and I’m not out to destroy anyone’s life or marriage. I just want complete transparency and disclosure so I don’t have to worry about my safety. If I feel intimidated I just can’t give anyone a soothing session.

Now let me share my turn offs. I think men who contact me and ask me to visit them at their home or hotel must realize I will need to include an outcall fee to take care of my round-trip expenses and the time it takes for me to travel to their location. I recently received two separate calls this weekend from two different callers one who had seen me before and didn’t want my dog to be present during a session so he needed me to travel to him about thirty minutes away. Mind you I don’t drive nor do I own a car so when I offer outcall services I incur a cost both ways. He seemed stunned when I told him I could definitely visit him for an additional cost. I could hear him gasping …stunned that I needed compensation for my personal traveling expenses. He said oh what will it be like $15 or $20? I could feel how concerned he was so I assured him it might be even less depending upon the time I took my uber. Then he said he needs to see if his children will be out of the house and I suggested he simply come here to visit but he didn’t want my dog present which astounds me because my pyrenees is super gentle, calm and usually hides in a corner to nap quietly if I’m in session. He then asks via text if I offer “pegging” sessions and I offer prostate massage obviously which is listed on my website but I don’t list pegging as an option. I don’t own this type of harness and I remember telling him on his first and ( last) visit that he will need to buy this apparatus because I’m not investing in one. I personally feel if he needs this type of stimulation he should probably hire a she male instead of a woman. The whole text and conversation we had was cringe worthy. His attitude towards my dog even more cringe. I love my pets and I do understand some people have phobias which is why I’m happy to offer outcall services but then my clients need to realize I am paying for my ubers and it takes time out of my schedule to travel so appropriate compensation is expected. If a client wants to save money and pick me up that’s fine too but I’ll always think they are stingy by not offering a tip for my travel time. I am a professional treat me with kindness and respect instead of exploiting me. I might smile politely and be accommodating but I might choose not to work with that individual moving forward because the lack of respect for my time is a huge red flag.

So now you know a few of my triggers. One is asking for services not listed on my website http://www.tantrabutterfly.com and another is requesting me to visit you without paying a generous outcall fee of at least $100 for my travel time and personal costs incurred. If I have to travel a full hour or more to get to you add an additional fee on top of the $100 and you need to be staying at a highly rated hotel in order for me to feel comfortable or a beautiful private residence. My space will always have pets. No need for anyone to visit me who has allergies but then you must incur the expenses for an outcall fee or provide a space for us to meet for our session.

I will never compromise my need for safety. I do not like people seeking “deals ” or attempting to exploit me when they are able to afford my pricing structures.

In the meantime I end this narrative on a positive note. Thankfully the majority of people I worked with have been generous, thoughtful and polite. A few clients wrote me lovely reviews or told their friends to hire me so I could remain busy enough to stay in my field. I end with gratitude and wish to continue to attract sensitive, caring ❤ individuals seeking a beautiful healing journey. I wish to always keep my heart and tantra practice open to anyone who is touch starved or simply needs to relax and reconnect to their body and inner joy.
